I've had this neighbor for many years when I was living in a poorer neighborhood. And I had moved to Florida a few years ago after I made my fortune. I came back to my hometown for a visit a few months ago, and I brought my Lamborghini with me. I saw an opportunity to make the kid's day much brighter, and I took it.

• That's how teachers roll in Arab countries.. i grew up in Saudi Arabia and i saw a teacher pick up a desk and smash a kid with it, as well as another teacher make a kid run laps whilst throwing stones at him and the art teacher carried a boy kicking and screaming by his hair and held him a few feet of the ground.. and this was at a very expensive private school!

hey gang,
finally fixed (well, sort of) the audio issues I was having. solution: move the audio up 8 frames, give or take! For the best possible version, visit my homepage and watch it there in Quicktime format:

So, this is my little mash-up of a bunch of stuff I like. What happens when the Scout from Valve's Team Fortress 2 video-game walks into the wrong neighborhood (Left 4 Dead). Hilarity (and a bodycount) ensues. It was created using Source Film Maker (for all the dialog stuff and the montage at the beginning), and with TF2/Source SDK for the entire 300 alley-run sequence. I had already completed that part before SFM was released. The big zombie horde scenes and a couple others were shot in Left 4 Dead. I hope you get a kick out of it.

Stuff I did:
I animated all of the characters (using Maya) except for the big crowd scenes and parts of the headcrab zombie (the crawling and the legs). The faces in the dialog scenes were animated in SFM.

Also did additional mapping, particles, motion graphics, zombie maya rigging, and created blendshapes for the Witch's face to enable her to talk/emote. I didn't do a full set, just the phonemes I needed for this performance. Inspiration for her performance was based on Meg Mucklebones (if you've ever seen Legend) mixed with the demon ladies in Army of Darkness. I have a feeling Valve had seen those movies too when they designed her..

  • Well, Wing Chun is a real joke in the world of martial arts. Not because it's a poor system. All the concepts and attributes to make a good fighter can be found in it. However, the sifus are totally disconnected from the reality of martial arts and Wing Chun itself. And worse, they attract a whole bunch of deluded kids. The masters are killing the system. WC has become the MA of talkers.

• The reality is that unless you are used to training full contact in ANY style, you will probably end up like this win chung practitioner when put in a scenario such as this one. There is just no way to get used to being hit and "standing in the pocket" while being calm if you only do katas and point sparring or practicing only heavy bags and wing chun dummies. Wrestlers, boxers and kickboxers train full contact in real time. There's no substitute for that.
